Day 7

Our last full day.
In the morning, Corrie joined the boys (except Michael) at the building site. In the afternoon, it was Giovanna's turn for a bit more building. Work is much slower going as corner posts are poured and the height of the wall grows. There was still plenty to do, collecting water, bagging gravel, unloading bricks, carrying wood and erecting scaffolding, and of course mixing concrete.
Michael joined the girls in the apostolate. In the morning, he helped out in the baby section with feeding, entertaining, and caring for the youngsters. Rita decided to give the women's section a go - where she clipped nails and helped with food prep and serving. In the afternoon, Santina and Corrie went to the womens section, where they helped bathe them and helped with craft. Michael was a real hit in the men's section - they wanted to keep him.
We have a shared supper with the brothers this evening... Our last supper.

  1. Dear Fr Damian, Zia Giovanna and the Mission Team,

I thought I would share this beautiful quote by Margaret Mead to inspire you on the final days of your mission...

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

I have thoroughly enjoyed following your blog. May God keep you safe and forever grateful,

    Anna Luisa
